I love breakfast… breakfast for breakfast, breakfast for lunch or breakfast for dinner. There are some flavors that are a must at my breakfast table and there are some that I’m willing to experiment with… this is exactly one of those meals.
From the traditional section of my repertoire I made my Cheese Grits. They are a fabulous way to kick up grits and a terrific thing to serve to anyone who’s not used to eating grits. You’ll never believe grits can be full of this much flavor.
Then I wanted to experiment with my grill pan – which is a fabulous thing to use when you don’t want to grill outside. Forget the breakfast sausage, today I wanted something with a kick… Italian sausage. After that was finished cooking I threw on a couple pineapple slices. The heat caramelizes the sugar in the pineapple and turns it into a treat (that would also be great smothered in ice cream).
I went traditional again with a poached egg; nothing says good morning like that beautiful yolk oozing all over your plate.
And then I experimented with a twist on cinnamon toast. Making a Sweetened Cinnamon Butter to put on English muffins. This turned out so good, I’m thinking of finding pretty containers to include it in my Christmas gift baskets.
Enjoy!!!
